Consider Joining the Downeast Chapter of SCORE

We in the Downeast Chapter of SCORE welcome men and women in our community to join us in providing business counseling services to local entrepreneurs. We are fortunate to have an excellent group of people already on board (see their biographies in the Meet the Counselors section of this website), but we are always looking to add people to our team.

If you join, you will help your clients develop business plans, analyze financial statements, make marketing and sales enhancement decisions, and give advice to those who are trying to start or build a successful business in our area. When you start, you’ll be teamed with an experienced counselor for a couple of sessions until you feel comfortable in stepping out on your own. Most of us counsel with another member, as this seems to offer the greatest chance for a successful outcome. As a result, after you’re counseling on your own, you can expect to do so once every two months or so. In addition, we meet monthly as a group to discuss current activities and plan for the future success of the chapter.

We have a number of “snowbirds” who are very active in our group…if you’re one of those, we welcome you, too.

Most of us are retired, but there are several who own and operate small businesses or do consulting on a part time basis, and we’ve had counselors in the past who held full time jobs. And many of us volunteer in other capacities around the region, of course. All in all, it is a fun, rewarding activity that has a very positive benefit for our local business community.
